delusion.

our culture is a delusion.

our culture is an hallucination.

our lives are a delusion.

all of our philosophy is a negotiation with this delusion.

all of our art, law, science, religion and media is way of manipulating this delusion for a consensus.

but some quick flicker of movement out of the corner of one`s eye is enough to make you wonder.......just what is actually going on.

im a big believer in the peripheral glimpse of truth.
of course when you try and look at it straight on, it vaporizes.

well, you`ve hit the nail on the head.

it is the nature of the obsessive to lament the vapour.

the shaman knows the moment will arrive again sometime.

sometimes when i plug in the guitar it sounds brittle and harsh and my fingers fight the strings.

but then there are moments when time it`s self disappears.

the thing is......we need to know the difference and be patient.

Hmm. I've been a musician, entertainer, teacher, and writer, and in all of these activites I'm fully aware that I am attempting to relate how I see things, which are, of course, how I see things. If most people saw things the way I did, I wouldn't have to explain them.

I don't tend to think of it as manipulation, in most cases. After all, you can take or leave what I say. (I even gave students who disagreed with me A's, so long as they engaged fully in the material, and demonstrated competence in it.) But I suppose one could make an argument for it being so.

no, but if you deviated to radically from the curriculum and the rules of presentation within the confines of the school you would find yourself having to explain your approach.

Actually, in the majority of my classes I was responsible for creating the curriculum. And you're right, I've had to explain it to the Curriculum Committees of several schools.

the status quo is precisely that.

i am an instructor with the luxury of not having a curriculum committee breathing down my neck and i have this fantasy that i could introduce a new methodology or two into the classroom, but i satisfy myself with stop-smoking and weight loss seminars and the occasional golf seminar.

i have to steer well clear of areas where government gives certification because practicing without a licence is a crime.

though occasionally i have given lectures on hypnosis and nlp to professional associations and they are well recieved, if for nothing more than the sheer entertainment factor.
