ok, so..before the obamaphiles get thier whotsits twisted immesurably, let`s just settle down and look at what we know.
iran and north korea are run by fuckheads who would think nothing of shoving us over a barrel if they had a deliverable nuke.
agreed?
diplomacy has been tried, continues to be tried, and will always be a part of our attempts to disuade fuckwits from tossing fissile explosives our way, but....we know very well in our non-political heads that this is only feasable as long as they don`t actually have a nuclear bomb capable of landing here.
chomskey et al can moan on about hegemony and the oil motive in all this, but really what is going on is the de-motivation of psychotic dictators in emerging nuclear societies.
full stop.
and to re-visit our old cia friend saddam hussien for a moment to reflect on the actions of these types....just show yourself a picture of all those oil fields burning as the republican guard ran off into syria...and imagine if he had a firecracker in working order.

is this a joke?
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/capress/091009/world/us_obama_nobel_surprise
no really, is. this. a. joke?
no really, is. this. a. joke?
again it becomes a struggle between conscience and consciousness.
consciousness is the state of being aware.
we are going inside and talking to ourselves about what it is that we know about everything.
this is what it means to be alive and awake.
i thik, therefore i am.
without this process there is no life. just a deep sleep.
conscience on the other hand, is a crated state whereby we feel that we have to do something to effect change.
conscience is created by adults and children teaching children to feel repsonsible for others and for things.
it seems as if this is a good thing, one that would ensure that everyone is safe and sound, but this is clearly wrong, because everyone isn`t.
why does this happen, when everyone is looking out for everyone else?
because nobody is looking after the self.
the self goes lacking while we try our best to help and take care of others.
and we wonder why we fail.
what is the answer then?
find yourself.
know yourself.
nurture.
yourself.
charity starts at home.
someone once said that....i can`t remember who.

http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/091006/business/commodities_gold_metals_price
it`s now time for all the idiots to rush out and buy it, because you can plainly see how valuable it is. never been higher. get some. yum. low in cholesterol. you know you want some.
the last time gold hit a high similar to this, in the mid eighties i believe, tons of people i knew went out and got some, you know, as a hedge against inflation, or some such shit.
people all of a sudden turn into warren buffet when news stories like this are pushed into our consciousness and start using investment buzz-words and insights from global economics and oil purchase strategies to justify thier stupid top-of-the-market decisions.
which is precisely what all the people who bought gold at $650 want you to do.
they are the one`s paying for the ads, sorry, i mean news stories, in the first place.
and these are the same people who spend hours a week sorting garbage to be a good little sheep come recycling day (formally known as garbage day) shopping in the mall, buying new cars, and dreaming of thier new custom house......(just like the one three houses down)
and you know what, yesterday i paid $8.79 for a cup of fries and an orange juice as a treat for my boy who was home sick from school, and i was pissed off from the start as the girl rang it in with all the taxes and such.
half a potato and some sugar water. fuck.
i bit my tongue for my boy.
and gold is nearly $1100 an ounce...plus tax of course.

speaking of necessary proof and scientific reproducablity......heres a religious icon that the cathoholic church has kept as the shroud that wrapped thier christ at the time of his death. they have cleverly never come out and said as much, but many church leaders have strongly suggested as much out of belief, which, as we know is good enough for followers.
scientists have now reproduced the image with materials and processes readily available to people in medievil europe.
now, if they could just re-approach darwin with such vigour we would be getting somewhere.

obvious.
http://www.world-science.net/othernews/090930_hyenas
to anyone but an evolutionist bent on finding a link between humans and primates, it would be obvious that a pack animal would be better at co-operating than a herbivorous tree-dweller.
also generally, meat-eaters tend to be smarter than those who only eat grass.
why?
because grass doesn`t run when you hunt it.

the evolution of the gym.
three years ago i seperated and moved in with friends. they were good enough to allow me to set ap a small gym in thier garage. i trained there for four months until i moved to my new apartment.
the bottom picture is from the back room of my apartment. one night i got a knock on my door late. the guy at the door asked if i had heard a large bang an hour or so before. he said the bang was so loud it knocked everything out of his bathroom cabinet. i said i hadn`t heard a thing.
later i realised that it was 245 pounds hitting the rubber mats when i was doing power-cleans. i had to laugh.
when i moved from my apartment this march i made a new gym in my girlfriend`s basement where the second picture was taken.
the new gym features a two level rack that i made out of two-by-fours that will support 700 pounds for shrugs and short range bench press. the lower level is for lower bench press and partial deadlifts. the rubber mats are great for saving the laminate flooring and for saving the concrete floor of my friend`s garage.
the dedicated warrior will find a way to stay battle-ready....y`know, for when the kids get out of hand....

now that i`m re-visiting some of my favorite artists....here`s a motherwell. not a lot to do with crop circles...unless you are talking about the one`s made by people.
speaking of art.

speaking of art, i can understand how a man, or a group, would want to make large images.
in the fields of england and elsewhere we have seen people striving to express themselves in fields of cereal.
these images are dramatic and awe-inspiring in thier size and structure.
jackson pollock would have been impressed.

features of crop circles.
http://www.cropcirclequest.com/beaumont_lodged/index.html
what critics and debunkers don`t address regarding crop circles is the variety of ways that the crops are laid down onto the surface of the field where it grows.
the debunker`s view is that men with planks enter the field and press the crops down with planks or rolling bars following pre-laid strings and posts. while this certainly accounts for many images left in the crops, it in no way explains some of the ways that the crops in the link above are formed.
planks cannot overlay and twist and braid the stalks of the crops....in fact, in fact the mind struggles to figure how any force on earth could have formed such an intricate effect.
hoaxers, pranksters and promoters certainly formed many of the images catalogued and readily available via the web, but not this one.

doug and dave.
http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/dougdave.html
http://ufologie.net/htm/cropbower01.htm
i`m not sure whether these two could have made the circle pictured below. a couple of sixty year-olds with planks would have been well pushed to make that monster. but anything is possible, except for one thing.
they had both been dead for years before the image appeared.

they had both been dead for years before the image appeared.
my point.....
is that, this pattern is made up of 409 individual cirlces stretching across 780 feet of a farmer`s field.
assuming that a hoaxer would have free access to this site for the full period of darkness without interruption, he would have, at best, 8 hours of darkness.
within this timeframe he and his assistants, if he had them, would have to stamp out 409 circles.
(sorry, i just laughed then.)
i divided 8 into 409 and got 51.1
this means that he and his agents would have had to be making 51.1 circles in an hour.
around one each minute or so.
and i can`t say with certainty that his feat is impossible, but fairly improbable in the scope of human behaviour.
so let`s ask a simple question.
why would a human or humans do such a thing?
in the cases that we know whereby humans have come forward to say they did hoax circles, they said they did them for a variety of reasons.
1) a practical joke.
2) to prove that humans are making them.
3) to dis-prove an unexplained phenominological reason for the formation of these circles, for whatever private or group agenda they may subscribe to. (mostly religious or scientific)
in all of these instances the hoaxer eventually comes forward to lay claim to the circle.
when we look at the majority of the clean, clearly machine laid-out images that are documented on a variety of sites at our fingertips, we find that nobody is coming forward to claim to have made them.
why?
because they would have to prove how they did it...

crop circles.
over the years i have been fascinated, frustrated and now mostly disappointed by ufo reports, documentaries and interviews.
i have mostly lost interest in the field, but when it comes to crop circles my fascination persists unabated.
now, i`m not correlating ufos and crop circles in any way. i pesonally think the crop circle is a natural phenomena that has eluded detection, and not something sinsiter or dangerous to humanity.
anyway, enjoy the documentary for what it is. an exploration into the unexplained.

what to blog today......
sometimes it gets to be more effort than it`s worth to read some blogs and post comments.
there is a blog i visit that touches on some subjects i`m interested in such as psychology, psychotherapy and sociology and brings some interesting perspectives...but, one or two of the commentors seem more interested in bating a person personally than adding value.
and that gets irritating when one wants to preserve a middle position and flow with the conversation.
do you know what i mean?
and funnily enough the host rarely comments.
and many of the commentors have no blog other than a minimal profile page, which leads me to think that possibly, and i will say possibly, the site is seeded by an agent of the host...or quite possibly by herself.
just maybe.

hey, what a great idea.
the only problem with socialism is that soon you run out of other people`s money.
and regarding clickable links.......whenever i used to post a full url, the clever people at blogger would automatically make them go live. for some reason this stopped happening and so i just put the plain text link there in the vain hope that people interested in where i was pointing could cut-and-paste and see what i saw.
now blogger has given me some new tool buttons that allow near-luddites such as myself to yet-again provide hypertext links in my posts.
probably something to do with spambots.
eventually spambots will attain some acceptance i suppose...somewhere alongside congressmen and insurance salesmen and those persistant types that like to call the house at supper.
anyway americans, enjoy your new cards. we love ours. even some of those who speak english.

so..i`m back from holidays and all you get is another shitty knee update.
the knee still hurts.
it won`t let me run my ass off like i imagine i used to and i`m really upset about that.
at l east we won our playoff game. and yeah, i got two goals...so my ego isn`t totally destroyed.
and the holiday was nice.
a week at at the cottage somewhere in near a bunch of small towns i`ve never heard of before.
it was so quiet there for a few days until an asshole and her fat children showed up with a giant speedboat that left a huge wake in the bay where we were swimming.
so we fired bottle rockets at them.....
and the people on other side spent thier time shouting at eachother in italian.
so we build a massive fire and smoked them out.
there is always a solution.
i like my dad`s attitude. speak when you are spoken to. i just didn`t like it so much when it was applied to me.
noisy freaking cottagers.
the bottle rockets were very, very loud though.
and that meant a lot.
even my girlfriend thought that was funny.

last knee update for a week.
played soccer on wednesday and did a 70% showing. frustrating in that i wanted to get going and push harder occasionally, but i was too aware of the discomfort of the joint.
yesterday was tough as the knee was really stiff again above the joint and i noticed a small amount of inflammation below the knee, which has since gone.
i will have a week of rest at the cottage.
at least i can walk and run and look forward to a full return eventually.

the article was typical catholic p.r. designed to appease the catholics. my interest was in the comment made suggesting that the crimes are nothing compared to the feminists attack on the family and the damage done there.
unfortunately, there is no group to hold directly responsible for the slanted legal judgements in divorce, alimony and child support payments awarded.
interesting also that we use the term "awarded" without thinking of the semantics involved in the choice of such.
a good friend of mine grew up in antigonish....he only mentioned being terrified of the nuns.

off to the cottage for a week tomorrow morning.
we are going to take some of our stuff and put in someone else`s house in the woods and try to re-create our living space here so that we can relax and enjoy ourselves in close proximity to eachother for an entire week, without losing our minds.

if you are say, 350 pounds. substantially fat for a woman at 5 foot five inches...and you stop eating 5000 calories a day and winch it back to 1800, which is nearly impossible for someone eating emotionally...but let`s say you do....let`s do some simple math based on the assumption that a pound of fat is 3600 calories and the food you are choosing to jam down your neck is 50% fat or more....and most commercially available food is......you are instantly depriving your system of nearly half a pound of fat per day.
in one year you will automatically lose 183 pounds.
you will now be 167 pounds.
if you continue for just a couple more months you will be down around 120 pounds.....bikini weight.
and 1800 caloeries of good healthy food is a quite a bit.
and you haven`t even seen the inside of a gym or ridden a bike.
but wait, let`s look at this from another angle.
how many skinny people never work out and have always been skinny?
the myth of working out needs to be put to rest as a way to lose weight and get fit.
i train with weights. i ride a bike. i play soccer. i watch what i eat.
i do none of those things to change my body weight or shape.
lifting weights builds muscle. eating food repairs damage done due to exercise. eating too much food makes you fat.
you can never outrun or outlift your mouth.
keep your mouth shut and you will lose weight.
ask an anorexic.
i didn`t check to see who the author of this article is, but she`s clearly wrong on this issue.
55 minutes a day for 5 days per week?
if you want to lose weight, simply eat less calories than you need to maintain the weight you are at.
period.

knee consult.
after consulting with an athletic rehab specialist i did some adductor work, which released my hip, instantly making my right knee feel ten times stronger.
apparently i was not tracking my right femur properly due to minor inflammation of the adductor tendon in the hip insertion point.
and i had some suspicion that this might have had something to do with it, as i `ve had groin issues this year also.
i guess they were more connected than i`d initially thought.
the contact i felt during the game was so minor that i had thought the injury was related to some on-going weakness elsewhere in the system.
good news, as i can use the adductor machine at the rehab facility for a week, thanks to a friend who runs the place.

unfortunately...another knee update.
after just over two weeks my knee is still not ready for gameplay, but i`m reasonably happy that, with some weight training and some running around with the children, i`m in a position to feel optomistic about playing again before the playoffs in september.
yet another knee update.
after two days of chasing the boys around the soccer field this week-end my knee is extremely sore.
setback?
no. just sore.

knee update for thursday....
a little sore this morning. in back of the inside of the knee. mcl soreness.
not a bad sign after running around a bit with my son yesterday.
didn`t push too hard and the knee held without too many dramas.
still, no soccer for me for a few more weeks.

i ran up stairs.
without thinking about it for a moment i tore up a short flight of stairs this morning after putting the garbage out. i got to the top of the flight and realised what i`d just done.
good way to start the day.
now all i have to do is resist the urge to play this week-end and i`ll be just fine.

knee update for sunday.
a week has gone by and yeaterday i got out on the field with my boys for a bit of a kick-about.
the knee held up for an hour or so of taking shots and passing and running about.
good news.
it was sore but managable last night and this morning i got through some light deadlifts, maxing out at 255 for 6 reps.
stairs a re still a challenge though, so i figure another two weeks of rest and progressive training before i risk a runout with the team.

dhmo concerns.
http://www.dhmo.org/
i never realised how dangerous this shit was until i checked out the site.
how come algore doesn`t talk about this?
Should I be concerned about Dihydrogen Monoxide?
Yes, you should be concerned about DHMO! Although the U.S. Government and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) do not classify Dihydrogen Monoxide as a toxic or carcinogenic substance (as it does with better known chemicals such as hydrochloric acid and benzene), DHMO is a constituent of many known toxic substances, diseases and disease-causing agents, environmental hazards and can even be lethal to humans in quantities as small as a thimbleful.

knee update, one week on.
yesterday i finally was able to go into a full squat and do 10 reps with just my body weight, with the help of a door handle for balance.
today i was able to do 205 for 4 deadlifts at the horizontal squat position which is as deep as i ever go when deadlifting.
it was extremely encouraging to be able to recruit quadracep muscles at the bottom position after only one week of injury to the knee, though i will know in a couple of hours how my body is going to react to the stress.
that`s what the ibuprophen is for.

his view is that we gain unwarranted exposure by publishing anything we feel like, without expertise or credentials to justify our position.

and andrew?, just in case you are reading this, culture was fucked long before we began typing.
and i take exception to his position regarding amateurism. as a musician i don`t read a note, but i have been immersed in the culture and performance of music all my life...having two parents who were accomplished pianists and singers. i have been playing guitar for 35 years, and while i have never taken formal lessons and don`t seek accolades for my performances, i can more than play.
his position that amateurs posting on youtube and the like are somehow diminishing the high position of art and music, along with litarature, science, art and everything else in the realm of human expression.
does he think freud or einstien or beethoven wouldn`t post on youtube?

a question.
if you pull into a parking spot only to notice that the spot is marked disabled, with a sign that has a concrete stand, what do you do?
a) find another spot to park.
b) move the sign to another open spot.
and if you chose b, are you still parked in a disabled spot?
i realise that`s actually two questions, but i think you can deal with it.

knee update, mcl tear.
finally, after nearly a week, the mcl (medial collateral ligament.) is exhibiting signs of damage.
i was carrying paint cans in the hardware store and stepped wrong over a low display, forcing pressure onto my right leg. when i got home i could feel the strain through the inside of the right knee where the mcl lies.
this is ggod and bad news.
good in that now i know how to treat the injury and what to expect.
bad in that it may take as long as eight weeks to fully recover, with the knowledge that the right knee is susceptable to re-injury as the left one has been most of my life.
defenders get a break for while.....

a visit to the chiropractor.
gets a blank look.
i dunno, he said.
go get some x-rays, he said.
oh well... slightly better than visiting a medical doctor, as he actually released the kneecap somewhat, and while that gave me a minor headache for a bit, it gave me further encouragement in that he didn`t find that the knee was unduly damaged.
and the knee hasn`t got worse....

it doesn`t suprise me at all.
http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/afp/090721/usa/us_politics_obama
i saw a lady in waterdown recently with an obama tee-shirt which, ohter than having a big picture of his face, said in big letters "finally, progress".
ok, so firstly. we are in canada. he isn`t the president of this country....and secondly, progress?
she was a black woman, so i can only assume that she was saying that she felt that a black man in the white house was progress for her.
obama has a tough job to do. like clinton, who took over from a bush, obama has to deal with military and foriegn policy issues that are outside of his mandate(those who voted for both obamaa and clinton vehemently opposed war.) at a time when economy was behaving like a pretty prom date that got drunk way too fast...
...so it`s not suprising that those who voted for him are pissed. he`s spending money like a rapper on crack and futher fucking foriegn policy up much like billy-bob clinton.
get a saxophone obama, chicks dig it.

and i`m sick and tired of people saying guns kill people.
people kill people....and mostly without guns.
knives, panty-hose, hammers, cars, bats, sticks, chains, bare hands.....and occasionally, a gun.
the common element in all of this is that each weapon was wielded by a....person.
a handgun is a great way to stop people coming at you with one of the above-mentioned weapons.....and peolpe are less likely to butt in on you if you are displaying a pearl handle also.
and i`m big on politeness.
people are really polite if they know you are able to open fire.
knee, day 5.
still not supporting my weight and sharply painful under load, but i went for a brief bike-ride this morning up a moderate hill and the knee, though uncomfortable allowed me to complete the journey and so i will put this one in the victory column.
the knee is sore now though i`m confident that the healing process is underway.

knee update.
well, three days since i tweaked the knee and not much has changed.
went for a long walk yesterday and the knee was solid, except for climbing stairs, where i experienced intermitant pain as i climbed.
this week will be one of waiting for the climbing pain to dissipate so that i can begin to directly work the leg muscles again.
in the meantime i will do the stiff-legged deadlifts and ride the bike moderately.
i have seen no diminishing of the muscle around the knee which is usually indicative of more serious damage to the ligaments of the knee and i`ve been able to walk on the flat without discomfort at all and ride the bike with only minor discomfort.
all going well i should be on the pitch again in a month.
fingers crossed.

knee injury.
a serious knee injury to my left knee when i was 19 ended my dream of playing professional football (soccer), and kept me off the field entirely until i was 36 years old.
i started playing again after a knee surgery gave some stability to the knee and allowed me to run...for awhile.
three surgeries later and years of weight training and several increasingly more expensive knee braces, i finally threw off the bonds and played brace free last year for the first time since i was a boy.
the dream was realised. i had said that i wanted to achieve that before i turned fifty, and i was two years early.
yesterday i was taken right back to square one.
ironically, not with the left knee, but with the right.
i turned to chase a ball and beat a defender who had come too close, and as i turned he lunged, catching my right foot as he did so and tripped me. as his foot caught mine my right knee twisted ever so slightly and as i fell i knew something was wrong.
i got off and could walk without pain and tried running on the sideline as the game proceeded with the intention of returning in a few minutes.
as i stayed warm running on the sideline i realised that the knee wouldn`t hold my weight as i squatted down to parallel. my game was over....
....this morning i got up pain free except when i tried to climb stairs.
the leg wouldn`t carry me.
i tried some stiff-legged dead lifts up to 225 for four reps without pain in the joint, but as i tried to descend into more of a squat i could feel the sensitivity above the knee.
thankfully the cartilage seems to be intact, but the ligaments above the inside of the knee are strained significantly.
i rode my bike a little later and felt some discomfort as i pushed down with the right leg, but again, the joint seems stable and the damage seems to be in the soft tissue.
good news.
four to six weeks of progressive weight training and bike riding and i should be good to go.

what does nasa stand for?
never a straight answer.
i remember sitting in a classroom in england, as a child, on the floor looking up at one of those tvs on a giant wheeled stand with everyone else...teachers and kids alike...not speaking....just sitting and watching...in awe of the magical event unfolding in front of us.
now i`m not in awe so much as re-visiting all the ideas of people who questioned whether we actually put men on the moon.
some powerful arguements out there for those who are curious.
i`m not going to post links because those curious can do simple google searches and see the arguements for themselves.
part of the arguement suggests that the moon landings were filmed in a studio on earth.
this latest nasa revelation does nothing to convince me they did actually land men on the moon back in 1969.
tampering with evidence?
oops.

obama`s faulty history lesson.
http://africanhistory.about.com/library/weekly/aa101101a.htm
obama is in ghana giving speeches at the slave buildings built by the british in the 17th century this week, giving us all the impression that his wife`s family were victims of the british.
while this is substantially true, what obama and an entire nation of people fail to address is that long before the european colonisation of africa, the muslims had been trading in slaves for centuries...and while this does nothing to exhonorate white slavers, to ignore this fact allows obama`s sharp point towards white america as the problem that blacks in america suffer today.
obama needs to tell the whole truth, so that whites and blacks...and those inbetween....can resolve the who-did-what-to-whom shit once and for all.

until they have enough of a population to start another war.
i`m glad that starbucks has good coffee though. i would hate to think i would have to go to tim hortons.

for a long time now the feminists have been saying that they don`t need a man....especially now that we officially don`t do housework and change diapers.....so i would well imagine that long before the new lab-made sperm is used for the benifit of infertile men, it will be applied to forging ahead wth the new species of amazons.
it begs the question though, what happens to the male children?
but it should be interesting, as a side note to future history, when the arguements start between two career-minded lesbians siring a child without a man......who are they going to blame on the housework not being done when they get home from the gym, work, coffee with friends?

the paradox of choice.

or, why on-line dating hurts relationships.
for those of you that won`t watch the video, though i highly recommmend it, the reason why on-line dating hurts relationships is that there is too much choice.
men and women go on-line and scan scores of faces and profiles and as they whittle thier picks down and actually choose people to communicate with...there is this nagging doubt that they could have chosen the other guy, or that there maybe was a better looking one somewhere else.....even though they date and see the person and possibly marry.
and the feeling persists.
and many who find themselves in relationships from the internet, will take a look at what they missed, now and then.

and what is the difference between this killing field and the last one?
`cause obama said so?
