well, i think you can imagine.
if you can bill,go somewhere where you can watch this video, because it exposes some of the sickest individuals and the games they played in the sixties with hallucinigenic drugs and people who were unaware that they were being given them.
the video is a documentary done by one of the major tv networks on the activities of the cia with lsd.
it sheds a different spin on the hippy movement and anti-war demonstrations.
What ever. Not everything in the sixty's was bad, I went through the sixty's just fine, without drugs. But know plenty of folks that did do them and they turned out just fine. It screwed some up, but that doesn't mean they didn't contribute something.
It's all a crap shoot.
no bill, you are right, standing on a hill in the sunshine in 1967 was the same as standing on a hill in the sunshine in 1867 or 1267......
but there were some seriously fucked-up people who were allowed to run amok with powerful drugs that messed up a whole culture of people in the sixties.
and for what?
power and control.

I've actually linked to this series on my own site. This is by no means comprehensive, but for a mainstream piece, it was very good for what it did, especially in its documentation and its interviews with CIA players and their victims. The Val Orlikow interview is priceless. The interview with Dr. Gittinger really shows Agency thinking.
