This is kind of a spinoff of Rushkoff's concept of 'viral media' (from his book The Media Virus. He posits that technology has allowed the current generation to act upon media. In other words, media have become more democratized.

There are some major flaws in this thesis, however. One of the most pernicious is the fact that even if people can utilize media, or technology, then the structure of the medium (or technology) of choice will be such that these actions are mostly binary. Another problem is that he sees power as static, not dynamic, with tensions and give and take between consumer, producer, and industrial capital.

Otherwise, there's is merit in what he is saying, and no doubty he had a captivated audience during this presentation. I don't disagree with him really, but I do invite a closer look to the caveat of this and other subsequent arguments he makes.

well, he does tend to be sort of a preach-to-the-choir type and he becomes charismatic about the fact that we can be in control of vast amounts of information and technology.

i like his thoughts about video though......

hmm, where is my camera?

No I don't.....

Wait, it may be because I don't give a fuck?

And when are you going to learn to make a proper link?

What is wrong with your links doctor?

i was unfamiliar with the ability of the post area to be able to make the links live until x.dell was good enough to give me clear instructions on how to do it.

now the cut-and-paste jobs that i used to post are now live and ready to click.......

i love this technology.

could you imagine trying to do this ten years ago?

If you love this technology then you should learn how to make a proper link, you dink. I say that with affection of course.

Could I imagine doing this ten years ago? Sure, I was doing this ten years ago.

Could I imagine doing this twenty years ago? Fuck no, I had a life twenty years ago.

If I was to shut this computer off and drag it out in the yard and drive over it I can assure you that I would promptly return to a better life and have much more time to improving my life.

But this isn't about me and my life, it is about making the world a better and more peaceful place.

Well, that and getting fuck wits to learn how to make better links so that they don't look so stupid. :-)

It doesn't take my IQ to learn how to make a link you know. Hugs.

I can't tell/show you how in a comment box because the example turns into a link.

If you look in Blogger help it will show you how.

I'll tell you what, I'll make a sample graphic and post it on my blog tomorrow. I have to do it as a graphic in order for it to show as typing the instructions just doesn't work.

Blogger bitches about me using broken code and won't let it post. But the graphic will show the code intact.
