and the answer is...................

http://www.freakonomics.com/blog/2006/04/16/are-you-ready-for-swimming-pool-season/

the reason why i like questions like that is because it forces us to look underneath the thin surface of everything we assume is a certain way.

there is so much fuss made over guns that most wouldn`t think that swimming poosl kills more children than guns do in a year.

what other questions can you think of that need answering?

like, what exactly is a big bang anyway?..........and explain gravity while you`re at it.

one question that always intrigued me is why we pace up our speed when we near our house.
i know it's psychological but...why?

i`m unsure of the psychological answer as i`m not a psychologist. the spiritual answer may be that you are happy to be getting home and in your anticipation find yourself speeding up......

but are you sure that`s really the question you wanted to ask?

Alistair, I posted a comment here about guns vs. swimming pools. Have you censored it? My point was that the evil of guns is not just the killing and injuring but the bullying and threatening: something which is not so easy to do with a swimming-pool. But I think I said it better the first time.

i don`t censor comments.
the point about bullying and threatening is well taken. the guns vs. swimming pools comment was designed to illustrate the perception of the danger of guns vs. swimming pools. surprisingly swimming pools are far more deadly than guns in our society........but it`s hard to get emotional responses about banning swimming pools.
