the secret.

i ust watched the movie called the secret. very interesting. similar in some ways to what the bleep to we know, but without the mildly irritating character developement, or lack thereof.
o.k. enough of my film review shctick.........
the secret is exactly what it says it is, a movie about a secret. one that 1% of the planet knows and operates. the rest, the other 99% struggles and bumps along.

what is the secret? well , i`m going to tell you and it won`t ruin the movie because you will need to see the movie to refer to what i`m going to tell you next.

the movie is about two things that make one thing.

gratitude + attraction = your life.

what you are grateful for, plus what you attract with your thinking, makes your life.

whether you believe it or not.

because the level of gratitude is different in everyone. because the type of things people think about varies. therefore people`s lives are different.

it is so simple and self-evident as to appear as if it`s not even important..........but if you aren`t happy and being fulfilled in your daily existance then it comes back to becoming more grateful and focusing on more pleasant things.

i have been rattling on about these concepts here and on other blogs for a while now.........my archives speak for themselves. finally i watched something that confirmed my core beliefs about health, wealth and happiness (with respect, yves.) and the notion of an energetic, or spiritual connection to the universe.

this has me very excited, because of a simple thing that happened to me as i watched the film. i thought about something fairly important that needed to happen soon. i saw it happening and felt grateful as if i was there already and..........this morning it was offered to me immediately. all that is left to do now is some minor details.

very cool......now let`s see what else i want to happen in my life.......?

I'd seen that about 3 weeks ago; also added Joe Vitale's blog to my netvibes feeds. Apparantly he's also big into hypnotism & nlp, namely it's implications in the media & advertising; http://mrfire.blogspot.com

Also, for a bit of added humour, take a quick peek at oneredpaperclip.com; started with one red paper clip, and 14 trades later acquired a house

A relatively quick story, I remember when I first started getting into synchronicities & psychokinesis, some of the things that would occur seemed to defy all reasonable probability

For example, I had held on to a particular book, named The Tenth Insight, for about 9 years; always forgetting about it each time I moved. So, the last apartment I had rented, I had finally sat down to start reading it. I got a chapter in, and the next day, one of my neighbors had picked up a copy of The Celestine Prophecy, which was actually the story precluding The Tenth Insight, but I hadn't know the book I had was part of a series until I matched the author's name on both books. To top it off, the books are almost entirely about synchronicity. This actually more flabergasted my roomate than me; partly because I had been wandering through many fractal synchronicitiesand had became acustomed to them. Of course, this fed the process even more, or so it seemed.

I was eventually led to a job at a graphic design training company. I then started getting into Rushkoff's stuff, namely his book Cyberia, and had become really fascinated with his perspectives.

However, unlike Pinchbeck seeing him in a cafe, the graphic design training company I was working for at the time went ahead and booked spots at the PopTech Conference in Camden, Maine back in 2003. Tickets were about $2000, which I definitely couldn't afford, but I got to go for free by offering a couple hours of volunteer service for each of the 3 days.

Turned out that Rushkoff was on the list of speakers, and didn't even realize it until I was on the bus traveling to the conference.

However, I don't know about you, but then I started getting into environmentalism, sustainability, politics, conspiracy, etc, and most of the fractal synchronicities had sort of stuttered & broke down...

Sometimes its hard for me to be grateful when I've understood there to be carcinogenic & mutagenic substances in the food, air, and water that we use for survival.

oh yeah, almost forgot. After I watched that documentary, I did some digging, and arrived at a book by Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich; written in the 30's.

Apparantly it was one of the more defining books that detailed many of the topics covered in The Secret, and no doubt is some of the sources that inspired The Secret. Though, I listened to the audio book, mixed with some seminars he did, and was quite dissapointed with some of the content that he spoke. Nappoleon Hill's book is one of the key books that inspired much of the business community since the 30's. I hope The Secret brings it to people who cherish humanity, rather than those who externalize humanity.

Oh yeah, I had first heard about Napoleon Hill's work through nlp trainer Chris Howard's products If you want to see how he integrates some of this stuff into his work, he breaks allot of Napoleon's material down quite well, offers some of his own research, while leaving out some of the badly-worded hypnotic-language that Napoleon Hill distastefully uses. If you want a quick snapshot of Chris Howard, take a peak at his reccomended reading

francis. thanks again for your eager collation of links. much appreciated.
i was into naopleon hill, tony robbins, dale carnegie, etc. as a realtor back in the late `80s and applied a lot of the principles to my business with some financial success. it was my interest in helping others that led me to hypnotherapy, nlp and cognitive work. i am recovering from a seperation now but i am ready to begin my career in councelling. the movie the secret hammered it home to me last night. do it now, see it done and be grateful. this morning my new office/apartment was made available any time i want to move in.
can`t be much clearer than that..........

I think the problem with the philosophy that you outline here is that it sweeps unhappiness - and ingratitude - under the carpet as if they have no value.

We need to be clear-eyed and unwaveringly accept our negative feelings because Nature has put them there to guide our foolishness. It is our manipulative scheming intellect, that can argue black into white, which we must hold at bay. Negative feelings are the alarm bells which warn us of threats and wake us from our sleep-walking.

I also think it is as foolish to allow intellect to run the direction of our life as it would be to lend a souped-up sports car to a drunken teenager late on a Saturday night.

it is merely a point on a curve. one that rises and dips like the tide. to suggest that the positive i discuss here is all of what i feel is wrong. i am a person and as such run the gauntlet of emotions, as we all do.
i am not suggesting that you do, but if you look through the archive of my summer it is a chronicle of some deep soul-searching regarding my seperation and strong feelings i had to face, that, had i not been able to crank up the positive emotions discussed here i could have made some regretable choices.
nlp and hypnosis are fantasic tools for change. they are not the territory, they are a map. the territory is the the life we live from day to day. the maps are the philosophies we create to get us by.
i spend enough time with unhappiness. it is the engine for my sensitivity, my music, poetry and wit.
i just don`t make an inventory for that unhappiness here.
