I like Gibsons I've had 2 SG's and 2 Maurauders, each one has a distinct personality.

gibsons?

`79 explorer.

mid `80s sunburst with emgs.

an undated red sg.

the two girls in the picture are tokais

stupidly good japanese replicas.

there are those who will debate the fact, but they are the real deal.

i`ve been playing for more than 30 years and there isn`t a 400% difference between them.

mahogany bodies, carved maple tops and maple necks.

i swapped the tuners for grovers and my friend jon at www.tonefordays.com redid the p-90s in the gold top and she rings like a bell.

i know many pro players who are using tokais every day at work.

some of the vintage tokais are getting more that gibson prices on ebay.

and character? the goldtop is a bright optimistic creature, ready to rip a run or scream as she feels.

the burst is a brooding dark animal, moody with the feelings of things unsaid.

tea for one.........

Very cool.

My dog knocked over my red SG and broke the neck in half.

I put it back together with glue and clamps and for some strange reason it sounds even better now.

A neigbot gave me a 1955 gibson tube amp which I restored. I use it with a distortion pedal and a flanger.Even with my mediocre ability the setup sounds great.

beautiful.

i have a 100 watt ampeg tube amp that i run through a laney 4x12 that can evaporate birds at 200 yards.

i use a pod 2.0 to provide overdrive at apartment volumes.

the amp doesn`t start clipping naturally until around 7.

it`s not so much loud as physical..........

i have an old line 6 amp for most of my practicing. it is an original pod built into a 60 watt combo.

i live in a run down old apartment building and it`s only half occupied so i can crank it most days.

i also have a 1981 dean cadillac with a solid mahogany body and neck that is my pride and joy.

i don`t play it much these days as it desperately needs a fret job and i`m afraid to get the work done for fear of ruining the feel of it......

but occasionally i give it a blast and well, you know........
